At Thornridge High School, our mission is to prepare all students to be competitive leaders in a global society by promoting excellence, respect, and pride within our community and offering innovative opportunities for student success.
The English Department proudly supports this mission by fostering a passion for reading, writing, and critical thinking. Through engaging instruction, diverse and inclusive texts, and open, thoughtful dialogue, we empower students to become confident communicators and analytical thinkers.
Our goal is to equip every learner with the skills they need to succeed in college, in their careers, and as informed, compassionate citizens in an ever-changing world.
Vision Statement
It is the vision of the Thornridge English Department to empower all students to become confident, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners, equipped with the skills and knowledge to engage meaningfully with diverse texts and cultures and thrive in a complex and ever-evolving world. We are committed to fostering 21st-century learning through creativity, innovation, and inquiry-based exploration of literature. We prepare students to navigate and shape a global society with empathy, insight, and purpose by cultivating critical thinking, collaboration, and authentic expression.
