Taiwanese Society of Suicidology (TSOS)
In view of the research and education related to suicide prevention, it is necessary to continuously gather the strength of elites from all over the world to achieve the state that "suicide prevention is everyone's responsibility" and "connect all resources, from strength to strength". In order to create a more complete suicide prevention network and promote international communications, Founding Chairman Li Mingbin served as the initiator and collaborated with suicide prevention experts in various fields of study to establish the Taiwanese Society of Suicidology, which promotes the sustainable development of suicide prevention research and education in Taiwan. Established in June 2008, the association has recruited professionals in suicide prevention education and research as well as opinion leaders. This includes professional personnels in the fields of medicine, psychology, social work, epidemiology, statistical information, health communication, etcetera. Through the areas of specialization of its members and the teams they lead, TSOS is able to exert the power of a national suicide prevention network through various professional and civil organizations.

Taiwan Suicide Prevention Center
was established
In view of Taiwan’s increasing suicide mortality rate and that suicide has been one of the top ten causes of death in the country for eight consecutive years, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has specially entrusted Taiwan Association Against Depression (TAAD) to handle suicide prevention services. In addition, Taiwan Suicide Prevention Center was established on December 9th, 2005, officially launching the work of national suicide prevention.

During the press conference, honored guests were invited to the act of inauguration. Suicide prevention is currently a crucial topic in mental health work. In order to achieve a more effective suicide prevention network, Professor Lee Mingbeen specially organized the “Taiwanese Society of Suicidology” and held the founder and the first preparation meeting on April 25th, 2008.
