Introduction to World Suicide Prevention Day

Introduction to World Suicide Prevention Day

The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP)  declared September 10th as "World Suicide Prevention Day”. This theme this year will follow last year's theme: “Creating Hope Through Action”. The 2022 World Suicide Prevention Day Press Conference, undertaken by the Taiwanese Society of Suicidology and National Suicide Prevention Center and hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, focuses on advocating this year’s theme on "Creating Hope Through Actions: Building a Healthy Mindset after the Pandemic”. This emphasizes the importance of optimism and reminds the public to pay attention to their mental health as well as the mental health of the people around them in the post-pandemic era.

In addition, we continue to hold activities that promote the idea of suicide prevention, including “World Suicide Prevention Day Poster Design Activity” and “World Suicide Prevention Day Essay Activity.” Through words and images in poster designing, authors can convey the concept of “Creating Hope Through Action: Building a Healthy Mindset After the Pandemic” and spread positive energy. Suicide prevention is everyone’s responsibility. Through combining the power of citizens and government units, we can build a dense network for suicide prevention, and achieve the vision of connecting all resources and creating a comprehensive community.
