The Texas School for the Deaf 9 –12 Career & Transition Team helps students explore their interests, plan for their future, and make informed decisions about high school, college, careers, and life after graduation.

We work with students to develop postsecondary goals based on their individual strengths, interests, needs, and future plans. Throughout high school, we provide guidance with course selection, Personal Graduation Plans (PGPs), career exploration, college and training opportunities, and preparation for employment and adult life.

Our goal is to help each student build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to successfully transition from high school to their next chapter.

The Career & Transition Team provides a variety of programs and services for students and families, including:

• Career assessments and counseling

• Academic advising and course selection

• Personal Graduation Plan (PGP) guidance

• Dual-credit opportunities through Austin Community College (ACC), Gallaudet University, and RIT/NTID

• College planning and support, including ACT/SAT, TSI, college tours, applications, financial aid, and scholarships

• Career exploration and postsecondary planning

• Community resources and referrals

• Transition services and student-led ARD meetings

• College and career fairs

• Coordination with our on-campus Transition Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor through the Texas Workforce Commission
