It's my privilege to welcome you to the Klondike Art Studios!

My name is Tanya Schwecke, and I am the Art Teacher at Klondike Elementary & Intermediate Schools. This will be my 27th year of teaching,     22 of which have been here at Klondike, and my 3rd year as

Klondike's Art Teacher!

I have lived in the Lafayette area since I was 5 years old!  After graduating from West Lafayette High School, I attended Purdue University, where I studied & earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.  Over the years, I have continued to soak in as much knowledge as I can through various opportunities for professional development.

Teaching ART is an adventure for me, and I love learning about new artists and skills, while creating all of the imaginative things with our Klondike Nuggets!   As a classroom teacher for many years, I never dreamed that I would be given this opportunity, but now I'm living that DREAM!

My husband is a 737 Captain for American Airlines, & volunteers with  Tippecanoe Emergency Mangagement Agency (TEMA).  He and I reside in West Lafayette, while our son and his wife live in San Diego, as he is currently serving our country as an United States Marine.

In my family, we are BIG Purdue fans!  When I'm not teaching, my husband and I spend A LOT of time at Purdue cheering on the Boilers at their sporting events.  We also love Indy Car racing, and enjoy going to races to watch their fast cars in action!  Spending time on our boat is one of our favorite things to do, and I often find the boat to be the perfect place to enjoy a good book!

I serve over 900 students from 43 classes each week. Each student artist comes to our studio once a week, for 30 minutes.  Each day is an opportunity to learn & grow in a new way, and it's an honor to do so with all of our students at Klondike!

Please feel free to reach out to me at any time, if there is something you feel you need from me!  At Klondike, we're a family, and I'm always excited to get to know all of you better!
