Welcome to Art with Mrs. Schwecke!

I am absolutely thrilled to welcome you to the KES Art Studio!

My name is Tanya Schwecke, and I am the Art Teacher at Klondike Elementary. This will be my 25th year of teaching elementary school, 21 of which have been here at Klondike, but this will be my debut year as Klondike's Art Teacher!

I have lived in the Lafayette area since I was 5 years old!  After graduating from West Lafayette High School, I attended Purdue University, where I studied & earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.

Teaching ART is a new journey & adventure for me, and it's one that I'm looking forward to very much!  I've always been interested in the world of art, and I enjoy experimenting & being creative, so I've often thought that teaching art would be an exciting experience.  I never dreamed that I would be given the opportunity to do so, however... Until now!

My husband is a Captain for American Airlines, & volunteers as a firefighter at Wabash Township Fire Department.  He and I reside in West Lafayette, while my son and his wife live in San Diego, as he is currently serving our country as an United States Marine.

In my family, we are BIG Purdue fans!  When I'm not teaching, my husband and I spend A LOT of time at Purdue cheering on the Boilers at their sporting events.  We also love Indy Car racing, and enjoy going to races to watch their fast cars in action!  Spending time on our boat is one of our favorite things to do, and I often find the boat to be the perfect place to enjoy a good book!

I serve nearly 1000 students from 43 classes each week. Each student artist comes to our studio once a week, for 30 minutes.  Each day is an opportunity to learn & grow in a new way, and I'm anxious to begin doing so with all of our Nuggets at Klondike!

Please feel free to reach out to me at any time, if there is something you feel you need from me!
