Language Arts

Reading/Language Arts: We will become independent and responsible learners by managing their own behavior during The Daily Five. The children will be in charge of their own learning and may choose The Daily Five (Read to Self, Read to Someone, Work on Writing, Word Work, or Listen to Reading) in any order he/she may choose. The grades will be based on oral reading, independent reading assignments, comprehension, vocabulary, non-fiction, paired readings, weekly tests, unit tests, and Accelerated Reading points and average % of their AR Goals. Second semester, they will begin reading to learn instead of learning to read.
