I am looking forward to starting my 30th year in education. 30 years feels like a very significant milestone, and I am excited to share this year with a new group of students. I have enjoyed several years in third, fourth, and fifth grades. Third grade is a big year, and I am looking forward to teaming up with parents to make it a success for each child.
This will be my tenth year in TSC. I joined the corporation as an instructional coach in 2016, working alongside teachers at all grade levels on curriculum and professional development goals. After three years in this position, my heart was telling me how much I missed being a classroom teacher, and I returned to this role. Before coming to TSC, I taught for 20 years in and held various teacher leadership roles in the Lebanon Community School Corporation.
I am originally from nearby Frankfort, Indiana (a Hotdog!), but have called Lafayette home for the past 24 years. I completed my undergraduate degree in elementary education at Indiana University Bloomington in 1996. Don't worry though, Boilermakers...I am happy to root for Purdue when they are not playing IU (and even work part-time at Purdue's Elliott Hall of Music). I also hold a master's degree in education from Indiana Wesleyan University.
I enjoy reading, outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking, attending sporting events (college football and Chicago Cubs baseball games in particular), concerts/plays/musicals, and most of all, being an aunt to my three nephews who live in Colorado. I also added the role of "dog mom" to my life again in May with the adoption of our now five-month-old Labrador retriever, Woodson. It had been 17 years since we had a puppy in the house, and he definitely keeps us active! My greatest joys come from the times I spend with my family, close friends, and, of course, my students!
Nephew love...
Go, Cubs, GO!
