Homework

I believe that both class work and homework are a vital part of a student’s academic success because they allow students to have the opportunity to practice and improve upon skills that they have been working on in the classroom. It also teaches self-discipline and allows for students to develop good study habits. Because I know that students work very hard to complete their work, I do my part to make sure that all homework is relevant and beneficial for students.

Students will be given homework Monday-Thursday each week. I do not give out homework on Friday's as I believe the weekend should be spent with family, friends, and having fun!
The following assignments will be due each night Monday-Thursday:

**Your learner can earn earn classroom money by completing these assignments each day!

Homework Expectations

1. I expect all homework to be complete the day it is due.

2. Students are expected to turn in assignments every morning. Any assignment not completed and ready to go first thing in the morning will not be accepted for Dojo Points.

3. If a student does not have homework complete when it is due for any reason, he or she will lose Dojo points. He or she can do the homework after the initial due date, but the fine will not be reimbursed.

4. Students will be given two homework passes during the year, which allow the student to skip an assignment penalty free. They also will have the opportunity to purchase "one more day passes" and "half homework passes" through our mini-economy as well.

5. Most homework assignments will be graded for completion only. However, it is extremely important that your learner completes their homework to ensure mastering the skill we are working on.

******** If your child is regularly bringing home more than an hour of homework, please contact me so we can work to find a solution.

******** If you have any questions about homework, please feel free to contact me.

Correcting Papers

One important factor in my grading is my emphasis on mastering content and skills. The purpose of grading is not to penalize and reward students. Therefore, I will allow students to redo assignments (except projects and any work graded in class) on which they earn lower than a 70%. All tests and quizzes, regardless of percentage, can be corrected and returned with a parent signature for an average grade.
