Hello! I'm so glad to be your learner's teacher this year! A bit about me: I grew up in West Lafayette and attended Purdue University. This is my 5th year at Mayflower Mill! I currently live in Lafayette with my husband, Chris, my 2 cats, Ginny and Zuka, and my 2 Golden Retrievers, Doug and Ellie. In my free time, I love to go out and enjoy nature! I enjoy kayaking, hiking, camping, and anything else that gets me outside. I love new adventures and trying new things. I also love reading and watching movies while I'm curled up with one of my cats!
My Teaching Philosophy
From a young age, I knew my heart was in working with children. Teaching is not just my profession, it’s my passion. Above all, I strive to make my classroom a safe, welcoming space; a home away from home where every student feels comfortable sharing their thoughts, feelings, opinions, and emotions without fear of judgment. I believe in building a strong sense of community rooted in teamwork, cooperation, and mutual respect, ensuring that no child ever feels alone. Every student should know they are a valued and important member of our classroom family.
I believe each child is unique and deserves a learning environment that nurtures their individual strengths, needs, and interests. My goal is to create an engaging, supportive space where students can explore, take risks, and grow into confident, independent learners. I encourage my students to become problem-solvers by using their resources and critical thinking skills to find solutions rather than simply looking for the answer.
I am excited to partner with you in your child’s educational journey, and I look forward to getting to know both you and your learner throughout the school year.
