I am aware of the many demands on a family after school hours. With this in mind, my philosophy has always been to fully utilize the time that your child spends with me during school hours so that he/she will not have to spend more than 20-30 minutes each evening working on schoolwork. Additional time may be needed to study for quizzes and tests.
In the event that your child IS bringing home more than 30 minutes of homework depending on his/her style and ability, it may be that your child is not using the time given in class wisely. Please let me know if a problem arises at home and I can discuss with you what I'm seeing in the classroom.
Independent and group projects are given throughout the year. Rubrics (a method used for scoring assignments) and details will be given in advance for any extended projects.
As a way of helping your child stay organized, your child will be given a “Homework/Mail Folder”. Your child should bring this folder home each day. Any assignments that are in this folder need to be completed and returned the following day. This gives you the opportunity to view your child’s work and to assist if needed.
