One of my favorite community resources is the Bauer Family Resources Community Resource Guide. This resource is updated each year with information about our local agencies that provide assistance to those in need. The Community Resource Guide provides information about the agency and their contact information. Here are some things the guide can help you find: resources for homelessness, food pantries, medication assistance, financial assistance, pregnancy assistance, utility assistance, and much more. Feel free to check out the guide here:
Being homeless is a situation any of us may find ourselves in. If you find yourself homeless for any reason please contact me ASAP. We have resources and assistance available for families who have lost their home and/or are living with another family until you find a new home. Please do not hesitate, we have a great system in place to help you during this difficult time.
When you fill out registration please also take the time to fill out the Free and Reduced Lunch Application. Even if you do not believe you will qualify it is worth your time to find out. Lunch is a very important part of your child's day. Children who are hungry have a harder time focusing throughout the day. If you have Food Stamps you may already qualify automatically. If you are uncertain please give me a call and we'll figure it out together :)
Throughout the year I have families ask about different types of assistance. The one that always sneaks up on us is assistance with holiday and Christmas gifts. We do have agencies in the community who provide gift assistance for low-income families and families in need. However, most of those programs are full by the time the holidays roll around. If you are interested in holiday or Christmas assistance please check the Community Resource Guide (linked above) around September. Most programs are full by October!
Towards the end of each year you will see in the school newsletter information for summer activities for students. I encourage you to find fun and educational activities to keep your child's mind going over the summer. These activities will appear to be expensive but if you get in early you may get a scholarship for your child to attend for free! These activities also fill up quickly so make sure to check your newsletter March through May!
