Reading & Literature:
Foundational Skills
*Develop an understanding of the five components of reading (print concepts, phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension) to build foundational reading skills.
Literature
*With support, read and comprehend literature that is grade-level appropriate.
Nonfiction
*With support, read and comprehend nonfiction that is grade-level appropriate.
Vocabulary
*Use words, phrases, and strategies acquired through conversations, reading and being read to, and responding to literature and nonfiction texts to build and apply vocabulary.
Language Arts:
Writing
*Write routinely over brief time frames and for a variety of purposes and audiences.
Speaking and Listening
*Listen actively and adjust the use of spoken language (e.g., vocabulary) to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences and for different purposes.
Math
Number Sense
*Count to at least 120, match ordinal numbers to objects up to 10, read/write numerals, use place value (two-digit numbers), mentally add/subtract 10.
Computation and Algebraic Thinking
*Fluency with addition/subtraction facts to 20, add within 100, solve real-world problems within 20, create/extend/give an appropriate rule for number patterns using addition within 100.
Geometry
*Identify, classify, and sort two-and three-dimensional shapes, create composite shapes, partition circles/rectangles into two/four equal parts.
Measurement and Data Analysis
*Compare/use nonstandard units to order objects according to length, area, capacity, weight, and temperature, tell and write time to the nearest half-hour, find the value of a collection of pennies, nickels, and dimes.
Science/Social Studies/Health/Computer Science
-No tests are given in these areas. Grades are based on participation.
