My name is Kelly Schetzsle, and I am so excited for the 2025-2026 school year! Each year brings something new and exciting for everyone, and I cannot wait to see what is in store for my class!
This will be my 22nd year teaching at Burnett Creek! While the majority of my career has been spent teaching first grade, I spent my first two years teaching special education. I graduated from Purdue in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. I minored in special education and am licensed to teach regular education grades 1-6 and mild disabilities grades K-12. I received my master’s degree from Purdue University in special education, mild interventions in the summer of 2010. My passion is first grade, and I love incorporating my special education background into my instruction to meet the needs of all my students!
I am originally from Holland, Michigan, and my students will often hear me discussing my many adventures "up north". I have a lot of family that considers Michigan home, and we visit as often as we can. My family loves spending time on the water in both Lake Michigan and Torch Lake. We are proud owners of a camper and love looking for new and beautiful places to explore. We take advantage of being outdoors whenever we can. In fact, all the pictures throughout this website are from some of the many places we enjoy! Whether traveling or staying at home, I love being with my family. We are also big college sports fans and enjoy Purdue and Butler athletics, as well as watching our kids in their various activities.
My husband, Nick, and I live in West Lafayette with our 15 year old daughter, Ryan, our 12 year old son, Drew, our 10 year old daughter, Austen, and our dog, Mackey. Ryan will be a sophomore at Harrison High School, Drew will be at 7th grader at Battle Ground Middle, and Austen will be a 5th grader at Burnett Creek! My kids keep me busy with soccer, baseball, football, basketball, and dance! We are always on the go!
I am looking forward to a wonderful school year and getting to know your family! We are going to have an amazing year together!
