Hello! My name is Katie Kelly, and I’m thrilled to be your child’s 1st grade teacher this year at Klondike Elementary!
I live in Chalmers, Indiana with my husband, Donnie, who works as a road train supervisor in Lafayette. We have three wonderful children: Kayser, who will be a 2nd grader at Klondike; Gene, our fun-loving 5-year-old who is joining the Klondike family as a Kindergartener this year; and Clarabelle, our fierce and fabulous three-nager who keeps us on our toes!
Outside the classroom, I love to travel , explore new restaurants with my family, and spend time growing both my indoor and outdoor gardens.
I grew up in Delphi and graduated from Delphi Community High School before earning my degree in Early Childhood Education from IU Kokomo. After that, I taught preschool and spent 7 years teaching both Kindergarten and 1st grade at Meadowlawn Elementary in Monticello. During that time, I also earned my Master’s Degree in Instructional Design and Technology from Purdue University.
This will be my 14th year in education! While I’ve been teaching Kindergarten at Klondike, I’m excited to return to 1st grade this year to enjoy one more year with some amazing former Kinders.
I can’t wait to get to know each of my students and help them grow—academically, socially, and emotionally. I’m so excited for all the learning, laughter, and memories we’ll make this year!
