burnett Creek mission statement
While this year will be vastly different than previous years, Burnett Creek's philosophy and mission statement will remain the same. Burnett Creek Elementary School will strive to ensure that all students pursue their personal best academically, socially, and emotionally while in a safe and secure environment. Members of the Burnett Creek Elementary School family will be provided an equal opportunity to succeed in a supportive and friendly atmosphere while learning through a variety of teaching styles and instructional tools and methods.
Burnett Creek Elementary is a C.L.A.S.S. school. C.L.A.S.S. stands for Connected Learning Assures Student Success. This philosophy is built upon two classroom rules. 1. Do the right thing. 2. Treat people right. Our virtual classroom will still maintain the CLASS philosophy and founding rules. In addition, we will focus on a lifeline each week through picture books, discussions, videos, and activities. Some of the lifelines include caring, friendship, respect, cooperation, flexibility, common sense, effort, patience, and responsibility.

Grading policy
Kindergarten Grading Policy
90-100% = A
80-89% = B
70-79% = C
60-69% = D
Below 60% = F
Kindergartners do not get traditional grades. They will be formally assessed each 9 weeks for report card purposes and will get a 1, 2, 3, or 4 based on the above percentages. A 4 will equate to an A (when applicable), 3 to a B, etc. Some skills will be percentage based, such as sight word percentage. We are still working out the logistics for progress monitoring and quarterly assessing. More info will be sent out about this as we move forward.
