Classroom Positive Behavior Plan
I use positive reinforcement to celebrate hard work and following procedures. When students complete their work in the resource room and follow expected routines, they earn the chance for a short break on Fridays.
If a student is not following procedures, I will always communicate with their classroom teacher. I will meet one-on-one with the student to understand what’s making it hard for them to follow routines. If the behavior continues, the student will take a brief, three-minute cool-down break in the designated area of my room. If a student still needs frequent prompts to follow rules, an office referral may be made. If a student has an existing behavior plan, I will follow that plan instead of the steps above.
I am mindful of sensory needs and will take them into account when a student is struggling. I also build brain breaks and movement into lessons based on the needs of the group.
