Students in Mrs. Spall’s class are expected to follow our Grinder Goals:
4. Do the right thing (integrity).
5. Do their personal best (perseverance).
Our Class Management System:
We will be using Class Dojo this year, which is an online class management system. Through this system students will start with 5 points at the beginning of each day to go with our class rules. The positive Dojo points turn into classroom money (“Brain Bucks”) which students may use in our classroom store every two weeks. In our classroom store, students have the opportunity to trade in their Brain Bucks for items such as a new bookmark, school supplies, extra technology time, lunch with the teacher, etc. Students may also choose to save their money for our grade level incentive day every nine weeks.
If students are not following our class rules, they will lose a Dojo point for each infraction. For each Dojo point lost, they will have the following consequences:
Loss of 1 point: Verbal warning
Loss of 2 points: Class rule practice
Loss of 3 points: Think Sheet with Mrs. Spall
Loss of 4 points: Parent contact
Loss of 5 points: Office referral (Some behaviors receive an automatic office referral such as physically hurting others intentionally, inappropriate language directed at someone else or leaving the classroom or building without permission.)
If negative behavior take place in the cafeteria, at recess, or during Specials (music, library, art, computer lab and PE), our classroom consequences will still be enforced. Our class travels with a class clipboard, and each child has a spot on the clipboard. Students can receive positive or negative marks by any adult in the building. These marks will correspond with our Dojo points and Brain Bucks.
