Battle Ground Intermediate School

Grade 5

Grading Scale:

A 90-100

B 80-89

C 70-79

D 60-69

F 0-59

Averages:

Grades will be recorded regularly for each subject and averaged for each student. Recorded daily grades, homework, quizzes, projects, reports, and tests will be averaged together to determine the student’s quarter and semester grades. When averaging grades, test/quiz/project scores will be weighted more heavily, unless otherwise noted before the assignment.

Subjective Grading:

Depending on the nature of the assignment, students’ grades may also reflect subjective grading. In subjective grading, effort, neatness, accuracy, promptness, improvement, and attendance help to determine the student’s grade. Rubrics may be used to help guide the grading process for subjective grading, especially on long-term projects or reports.

Attendance:

When students are absent from school, work assigned in their absence may be made up. The classroom learning experience cannot be replaced by assignments made up at home. Absences may be reflected in the final grade of the student. Homework must be completed on time to receive full credit. If a student is absent he/she will have an equal number of days to make up the missed work while they were absent. Work can be sent home with another student or picked up at the end of the day for a student that is absent.
