Homework is given to allow students to develop newly learned skills and help them prepare for their future. Math and reading will be the main nightly homework, but there will be some nights where they need to complete other subject assignments. Some days there will be less homework than others. The students should not be completing more than 60 minutes of homework a night- 30 minutes of this being silent reading.
Please encourage your child to complete homework as it is assigned on their own. If a child needs help, please provide appropriate support. This will help them better prepare for quizzes and tests and help them create better study habits. Staying organized is key in making sure homework is turned in on time.
Homework is expected to be complete and turned in on the morning it is due. Homework is considered late if it is turned in after 9:10 AM of the day it is due. I will keep track of late homework as well as take a point on Class Dojo which should notify you.
Students with late homework will be able to take it home and turn it in the next day. If I have missing work when I enter grades, I will put in a 0% and mark it as missing/late. Once it is returned, I will change the grade but will take 10% off for each day it is late. If it is not returned within a week, the 0% will remain.
Student grades in each subject are made up of homework, quizzes, classwork, and tests. Quizzes and tests will carry more weight than their homework.
Your child's work will be graded using the following grading scale:
90%-100% = A
80%-89% = B
70%-79% = C
60%- 69% = D
59% and below = F

2. Effort
3. Accuracy in completion of work
4. Follow both oral and written directions
5. Demonstrates good study skills
6. Proper use of time
