Classroom dojo will be utilized this year to keep track of positive and negative behavior in the classroom. We work on positive praise in the classroom and encourage great behavior on a daily basis. You can sign up to view your child's story and get notifications each time they get a green or red point. Please ask if you need a new printout of your individual code!
I will also be sharing classroom information and pictures so you can keep up with your child throughout their school day. You also have the capability of sending a quick message to me through class dojo.
I will use Class Dojo to communicate important information as well as send you any private messages. This is easier than email since I get so many e-mails during the school day.

We are teaching the basic principles of economics through our classroom economy this year. The idea is for the students to learn that everything has some sort of cost associated with it. All students have a job and receive pay for it. This year students will be a "team" for their job and they will share the responsibilities. We will be rotating through these teams over the course of the year. They will also be given bonuses for good behavior. There will be costs that the students incur as well. Examples of these costs are desk rental, insurance, and fines assessed due to behavior or late homework. Through the economy students are exposed to the skills required in balancing their expenses with their incomes. They will be responsible for keeping a running balance of their income. We are looking forward to seeing this shape and develop the students throughout the year.
Students will have a chance to spend their money as well. They will earn RHC (Responsible Hawks Club) by making good choices and being responsible for their homework. They can either choose to purchase this time or choose to work in a study hall for free. They will also have a chance to spend their money in my class store.
