INCLUSION: CO-Teaching
What is Co-Teaching?
Co-teaching is when two certified teachers are present in the classroom and they work together through the teaching process: planning, teaching, and assessing student progress. In a co-taught setting, the teachers are considered equally responsible and accountable for instruction.
What does co-teaching look like?
One teach, One observe- While one teacher teaches, another teacher observes the lesson. At the end of the lesson, both teachers will analyze how the lesson has went.
Station teaching- Students will be divided into a small group, and each teacher will take a role of teaching the small group. For example, one teacher will teach one topic of a lesson, another teacher will teach another topic of a lesson, and while other group practice what they have learned.
Parallel teaching- Students will be divided into half. Each teacher will teach the same content to the half of the students.
Alternative teaching- While one teachers teach the majority of the group, another teacher will teach the small group of the students who need more special attention and focus.
Teaming- Both teachers teach the lesson together at the same time.
One teach, One assist- One teacher will continue with the main lesson, and the other teacher will help facilitate the lesson.
