Homework Policy
My main goal for homework is to help students feel more confident with skills that they learn at school. Homework also gives families the opportunity to help their students practice and stay up to date on what we are learning at school.
Homework is NOT graded. Students will turn it in, but no grade will be put in PowerSchool for homework. I understand that afternoons and evenings are very busy for families, and I do not want to take away from family time and/or play time! Most of the time, students will complete their "math homework" at school, and can bring it home to show families and explain what they are learning.
Reading
One reading page will come home on Monday and is due on Friday.
This reading passage is meant to be read out loud every night to help your student practice fluency. There are questions on the back to help with comprehension skills. Students will be given time in class to work on these papers, as well.
Math
One math page will come home each night Monday-Thursday and is due the next day.
This page should only take about 5 minutes. If it takes longer, write me a quick note and send it back unfinished and I will help them with it!
NO HOMEWORK ON FRIDAYS
Take-Home Folders
Your child will bring home a Take-Home Folder each day. Please check their folder each night for important notes, news, homework, and graded materials.
Reading for at least 20 minutes a night will be beneficial for your student. Make it fun! You can use the reading sheet that I send home or any books you have. It doesn't have to be a big ordeal- you can snuggle up with a good bedtime story together. Let me know if you would like book suggestions or extra resources. Happy Reading!
