In Our Classroom:
We value kindness.
We value each other's differences.
We believe in ourselves and work hard.
We use mistakes to grow.
We work together and respect each other.
We follow directions to maintain a safe and respectful environment for all.
I follow a Conscious Discipline Model for behavior management. Conscious Discipline is an evidence-based social and emotional learning practice that focuses on developing problem solving skills. Click here to learn more about Conscious Discipline.
Classroom expectations are clearly set and modeled. Our expectations help to make sure that everyone feels safe, loved, and successful in our classroom.
Mayflower Mill uses a "check" system for behavior during specials, lunch and recess. Students in my class will receive feedback based on this model:
1st Check: Redirect and Reteach.
2nd Check: Redirect and Reteach.
3rd Check: Redirect and Reteach. Conference with teacher during second recess time, if necessary. Discuss strategies to help students through difficulties.
4th Check: Parent Contact. We will discuss ways that we can help your child be successful.
5th Check: Office referral and parent contact.
Our behavior system in the classroom operates much like this one. Any unsafe behavior will result in an immediate office referral.
