Writing: Students will learn how to write personal narratives, informational essays, persuasive essays, and fairy tale adaptations.  

Your child will be introduced to cursive this year.

Math: In third grade we work on addition and subtraction facts first semester and multiplication facts second semester.  I use a combination of classroom instruction, IXL lessons, IReady Math, and Xtra math to teach and practice math concepts.

Reading: I try to make my reading instruction as "novel" focused as possible.  Some of the novels your child will be reading this year include: Third Grade Angels, Because of Winn Dixie, My Father's Dragon, Stone Fox,  The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, Helen Keller, and Charlotte's Webb.

I will be using Sadlier Vocabulary to teach vocabulary this year.  Students will receive a new list of 10 words every two weeks. 

Spelling: We follow the Fundations program and spelling lists are based off of Fundations lessons.

Social Studies/Science:  We will do Social Studies first semester and Science second semester. I try to make these subjects as hands on as possible!
