We discuss as a class what the word “Respect” includes and what actions we take to make sure we are showing respect. The students conclude that they could be respectful by: listening when someone is speaking, keeping their hands to themselves and not bothering others, and using kind words when speaking to one another. Our classroom also places a lot of emphasis on the Lifelong Guidelines of Active listening, Personal Best, Truth, Trust, and No Put-Downs!
The following are consequences when not showing RESPECT:
Loss of 10 minutes at recess
Referral to administrator or parent-teacher conference
In our classroom, we encourage a family atmosphere by caring for one another as if we, Mrs. DeFreese’s third grade class, were a family!
