This year will be my seventeenth year of teaching. I grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana with eight other siblings. I knew even before I started high school that I wanted to be a teacher. As a child I thoroughly enjoyed playing school with my brothers and sisters and always felt that I should be the teacher. My younger brother was often my guinea pig for my "classroom lessons." Every time I taught him something new, I felt such immense joy and knew that I wanted to spend my life feeling that joy!
In 2003 I moved to West Lafayette to work towards my Bachelors in Education. After finishing my degree at Purdue, I decided to stay in the Lafayette area. I have two children. My son is at Junior and McCutcheon High School grader and my daughter is a Senior.
Having children definitely changed my philosophy of education. I have learned that all children learn differently and through various activities. I believe that learning should include hands on experiences, trial and error, experimentation, and a variety of individual, small group, whole group and partner work.
A few of my favorite things include beaches, books, hiking, camping, kayaking, and coffee. Coffee is a food group all its own and has a special place in my heart!
I look forward to getting to know you and your learner throughout the school year!
