All students deserve to learn in a positive, safe, and nurturing classroom! Our plan provides guidance so the students can make good choices. The plan emphasizes and rewards good behavior as a whole class. As a class, we decide what we want to work towards like sidewalk chalk outside, special snacks, bubbles, pajama day, etc. We discuss how many pom-poms we need to earn (10,15, 20, 25) in order to get this reward. Whenever the class as a whole is caught doing something awesome (working quietly, cleaning up their space, using kind words or helping others, receiving a compliment etc) they earn a pom-pom in our jar.
There are times that warrant a consequence for unwanted behaviors. I will give a child a warning, remind them of the expectations, and have a talk with them privately with most behaviors. If a child continues to have issues, a message will be sent on Class Dojo or a call to a parent to discuss together ways to better support the child. If a behavior is severe, I will speak with Mr. Sweet and we will discuss a suitable consequence for their behavior.
