My classroom will follow this grading policy:
100%-90% = A
89%-80% = B
79%-70% = C
69%-60% = D
59% or lower = F
There are other times when I grade through observation and class activities. I will send home the rubric with expectations for writing, reader’s theater and other activities.
I believe homework is important for practice in skills, teaches discipline and responsibility, and it acts as a bridge of communication to show families what students are learning at school. It is expected that homework is completed and turned in every morning.
All homework will be looked through for effort and understanding, and it will be spot graded.
**If your child is regularly bringing home more than an hour and a half of homework, please contact me so we can work to find a solution.**
** If you have any questions about homework, please feel free to contact me.**
Weekly Homework:
Reading: Students are expected to read at least 20 minutes per night and log their reading on their Bookmark. This helps them build fluency, stamina, comprehension, and vocabulary. Please click here to learn more about why reading at home is so important!
Spelling: We will have a spelling test every Friday. It is important for students to practice their weekly words!
Math: Your student will bring home math homework almost daily. This work should have all questions completed. We will work on a few practice problems during school so students understand their work.
Other: Students should also pratcice their weekly vocabulary words to prepare for their Friday test!
Students may occasionally have other homework such as grammar, reading, writing, social studies, or science!
