Casmir’s could be heard before he came into Baron’s tent. It was Crow's run to keep watch; he was a good soldier, sometimes too good. I still need to tell Baron about my thoughts about him.
“Out of my way!” Casmir yelled outside of the tent flap as Crow tried to stop him. Casmir barges in, pushing Crow away, and walking straight to Baron's wood desk. “Go to hell! We're leaving now!” Fury raked his eyes, his hands were clenched, and his breathing was shallow. He was furious all right, not faking his emotions in any way. I gave a smile as I Knew that Baron was going to eat him straight up.
I was sitting on the chair in front of the desk and had gotten out of the way when Casmir came storming in. I now stood near the flap to the outside, where Crow walked in looking apologetic. Even though he did nothing wrong. This talk between Baron and Casmir had to happen. Better now when Baron calms than when he was less calm. At that point, Baron would just fight and beat Casmir. Though being fun to watch, those fights as Baron says “impeded me to see as the other. Sometimes they can have something good to say even if they are overcome by emotion.
I motioned to Crow to stay at the front, then turned to Baron who motioned me to stay. I stood behind Casmir waiting to see what would happen. Baron motions to the upturned chair and says “please no need to be standing.”
“Answer me first!” Casmir said. “In what world do you think we live in, why did you order my men, mind you not just yours, mine! To start making trenches and to start digging in. we need to be leaving, not cutting ourselves off from supply. The head command has no clue where we are. We have no clue what the grays are, we need to regroup and plan out our next steps not suicied are self into a sige.”
Casmir half yelled half spoke this out getting a little more under control. Now that he spoke out. Baron once again motioned to the chair. Casmir set it back up and sat in it. Still fuming. Casmir waited for a few seconds but Baron’s silence brought back his anger.
“What is it! Tell me alleast if there is something I don't know. Some plane you have, or knowledge that you have that can help us. Dame it Baron, people out there are believing that those grays were made by a creator. It's an outlandish thought, but that is what this gap of knowledge is doing to us. Baron, why did you tell the men to build defence. Why!”
Baron stared at Casmir, with cold eyes. Casmir was sharp. But he doesn’t have knowledge like Baron.
“If you're wondering if the head command is making this city the next line of defence, I’m sorry to say that you're wrong. Here is no help coming, no supplies, no savoir. We are alone.” Baron said in a calm voice. And much softer than Casmir.
“The HELL!” Casmir stood up sharply, knocking the chair over and clipping the desk. “ we need to back out. Go back. This is suiciede Baron,... you idiot. The men out there, yours and mine, are terrified. They're scared of these gray, and so am I. we don't know the enemy, we need to back off and learn about them.”
“The grays are nothing more than our enemies, we’ve seen them fight, we have seen their leaders. We have all the knowledge that we need. Their weak and idiotic. We only need to plan an attack and relive the border city. We just need time and resolve.” Baron said a little mockingly “Tell your men that they will be a deciding factor in this war. If they chose to be soo.” he ethasisted the last words harsly and stood. Standing a good head taller than Casmir.
Casmir broke at these words. He went straight towards Baron poking his hand into his chest.
“You want to send us all to our deaths for the chance of being praised as a hero! You're a coward. Nothing more, coward of saving your men. Coward of losing!” Casmir’s eyes flashed red with his anger. “I order you to stand down for your incompetence. You lost all of our lives, mark my words.” Casmir pushed Baron with his hand. Baorn pushed back with a flash of speed, knocking Casmir back, almost tripping him over the knocked down chair.
Baron walked around the desk and up to Casmir’s face. I smiled. I might get to watch a fight after all.
“Our Job as soldiers is to die. Die for what! Others. People who don't choose to do soo. Workers, mothers and children. You can run, but if you do, take off your uniform. Strip yourself of being a soldier. You run your done. And all who go with you are fakes. Children who want to be heros, but run when danger arrives.” Baron pushed Casmir hard, when he emphasised a word. “Are you a soldier or a child?” Baron pushed him to the tent flap. “Show me. Go gather your cowards and leave.” Baron shoved Camir out.
Baron turned back to me. I gave him a knowing look.
“It's not lying. Not at all.” Baron said. I only looked back at him. “ It’s true that we need to keep going. It is true that if we want to have the best chance to win the war we stay and fight. No lies in what I said.” I returned to the chair and put it back up and sat down. Baron went to his desk and sat down there.”
I motioned where Casmir left and gave him a look.
“No, he doesn't need my family. That is my burden. Well save them. But I won't try and make him guilty if he or anyone else wants to run. I understand them. Casmir is right that my choices and order are not the most logical. But you know...” Baron trailed off a little. “You know, I can’t wait for that. They can't wait for that.”
