I was standing at the Baron’s red tent. It was of a square shape made of a thick wool. It was hard not to listen to the fight on the inside. Baron and Camsir taking shots at each other. I tried ignoring it. But it being about my future life, you can say that I was interested.
As I was listening I held a long raven's feather. Not one of my feathers, those are too unusually long to hold out in the open but form one of my ravens. I had three ravens out. One with Kaiser. One scouting for the grays around the city, and the other in the city Oxlin in Iberia, looking for Locke. Of course, I won't find him. He is invisible. Never at his house. Different people act as him at meetings, of course, I was the best person for the job, but I don’t know if I can do it. It’s just too damn hard.
I looked through the eyes of my ravens and felt what they felt. I felt the wind brushing past them. The landscape flying undernight them. Oh what I would give to fly again. Unfrule my wings and just soar above.
I daydreamed a little thinking about the sky and flying. I almost didn't get out of the way for Casimir when he was shoved out. He opened his mouth as if to yell one last time, but closed it. Seemingly deciding not to. Then after a or too, where Flint, who I have only heard speak once or twice, has a conversation with Baron. But then it was mostly baron talking.
I always wondered why Flint never really spoke. Even too Steel ironically his best friend. I was thinking about my brother and what he told me before I left, when Baron called me in.
“Crow come in please.” Baron said. I of course walked in. Inside flint was to the right side of the tent, and baron at the end at the other side of the desk. He liked that desk, alwaysed had it. As I walked further in, Flint left. “He can take your shift dont worry.” Baron said camly. He was always calm. Except when he was angry. But even then it was scary how fast he shifts from mad to calm.
He motioned me to sit, I did. Then the fear hit me. What the hell does he want with me. Does he know I am an astride! Was he going to hurt me? Cain me up. I could understand why . Astrids only helped their family. They never cared for others. But that's what I wanted to change. It's why I joined Kaiser. To have some astrides actually helps others.
But again, I was sent to spy on him. If he knows that I'm done for.
“Are you nervous?” Shit he was on to me. Goteing me. He liked this sick game that he was playing. Look at him tilting his head, he’s faking his emotions. He wants me to think he doesn’t know then when I feel safe he strikes.
“Your legs are shaking.” Baron, you know why stop this game.
“Why should I be nervous? I'm just waiting for when we're going to fight the iberians.`` I replied. He nodded his head as if he was good with this answer. I tried to keep my breath normal. He would have brought me in for a reason. He sent Flint out. If he needed me to go give a message he could have just sent Flint. He has something else in mind.
“Keep watch on Casmir for me would you?”
What?
Wha
Does he really know I am an astride. Maybe I'm overreacting. I only used my power in front of Casimir and people just think that ravens don't like the grays. But it just might just take some time before they find that out to be false. But that won't prove that I'm an Astride. Would it?
“Sure,” I said. Sure? What type of answer is that?
“Thank you. I'm sorry for getting him riled up and telling him that he and anyone else can use any of the supplies if they wish to leave.” Baron said calmly. that damn calm face. I can't tell what he is thinking.
He motioned me to leave. And I stood from my chair and walk to the flap and right before I left baron said
“Question, please. Just a short one. What's the name of the bird astride family?”
“Delmark.” I said instinctively.”
“Thank you. You can go now.”
