This Committee is responsible for a biennial Health Fair held in the Spring every other year during odd years.
The committee will work closely with Mr. Sullivan, the physical education teachers, and local community members to set up tables where the students can learn about all aspects of health from nutrition to exercise and making healthy choices.
Provide luncheon and refreshments to vendors and volunteers
This Committee is responsible for planning activities to celebrate the teachers and staff at Madison Middle School throughout the year. The committee will determine a theme and then plan all of the activities. Typically, several events take place throughout the year such as a Welcome Back event in the fall, and Teacher Appreciation Week in May.
This committee works directly with the Media Specialist –Ms. Corey Dwyer, who sets dates & times for Scholastic Book Fair, held once per year, currently in the Fall. Chair & members should meet prior to the book fair to coordinate:
Sending home flyers with dates & times of the fair and general information
Hanging up flyers and posters around the school
Working with Volunteer Coordinator to solicit volunteers for setup of books in the media center on the day before fair, "helpers' and cashiers on the days of the fair, and to assist with packing everything away at end of Fair
Setting up the fair the day before it begins
Working at the fair - usually two days and one night
Collecting money (and providing correct change) for book sales and donations to the teachers
Re-ordering books with Scholastic, if needed
Closing up the fair and packing up what is left
Working with the treasurer for start up money and providing an accounting of sales and all money collected.
This Committee is responsible for coordinating refreshments for the speakers and creating packets for the speakers. The majority of the work in this committee is done by the Guidance Department. The chairperson would work closely with guidance staff.
This Committee is responsible for the purchase and sending of gifts and cards for special occasions including Principal's Day, Nurses and Secretaries day, staff appreciation, illnesses and other recognition for Madison teachers and staff. The committee chair would work closely with the school secretary.
Organize various fundraisers to support the school such as:
"-athons" - Events to raise money for the school through a school-wide event
The committee will set goals, work with the '-athon' management company, determine prizes and prize levels, order tee shirts, make twice weekly deposits of in school donations, create announcements for eblasts, social media and in school announcements, plan celebratory event, coordinate the event including decor and refreshments.
Coordinate with the school the presentation of these topics to the MMS community at the Academic Excellence meetings which are usually held on the 1st Friday of every other month, starting with October.
Chairperson acts as a liaison with the 8th grade staff, administrators, and parents
Schedule volunteers as needed
Communicate information to parents
Coordinate membership drive efforts at start of school year by providing forms at and attending the Grade 6 Orientation in late August, Back-To-School Nights in September and throughout the year, to solicit members
Maintain membership records in Membership Toolkit, including member names; contact information, membership type (family or faculty) & payment information
Provide membership numbers to Treasurer
Collect dues and provide deposits to PTA Treasurer & assist with paperwork to be filed with CT PTA and National PTA
Encourage students and teachers to participate in the National PTA initiative that promotes visual arts, music composition, literature, photography, dance choreography and film/video production.
Coordinate the Reflections Program at MMS based upon directives from Trumbull PTSA Council –including making available entry forms.
Solicit and collect student entries.
Assist in year-end reception to recognize winners at the annual Trumbull PTSA Council program held in May.

This committee is responsible for organizing the school photos. Trumbull PTA Council will notify each school of their Photo Day –usually in September
Packets will arrive directly from the vendor with all the information needed including flyers, dates of retakes, etc.
Communicate and coordinate photo day for school
Send home order forms to each student
Distribute flyers and hang posters in school
Schedule volunteers to assist students on photo day
Distribute photos when they arrive
Coordinate picture retake day
Maintain information on MMS PTA website (Google Site) including:
Updating Officer contact info, Committee chair contact info, forms (vouchers, mini-grant application, etc.), meeting dates, post approved minutes, and update Reflections program information.
