Dear Families,
Starting at the end of month, we will begin our Fundations curriculum. Fundations is a literacy program focusing on the identification of uppercase and lowercase letters as well as their corresponding sounds. Each week, we will introduce and instruct new letters. This week our letters are A and B. The program goes in alphabetical order. Please reinforce the letters they learn each week at home as much as you can!
Attached is a sheet with all the letters and their ‘stories’. Each letter has a keyword or picture with it as a reminder to the student of the sound. For example, the Aa card has an apple on it. When the student says the story, they will say ‘A, apple, /a/’. This helps reinforce both the letter and sound. It is helpful to ask them questions such as ‘what is the story?’ or ‘what letter is this?’ and ‘what sound does it make?’
Our share items will now be related to the letters. Please follow the share schedule to see which item to send on Thursdays.
