Reading
We are utilizing the Columbia University's Teacher's College Reading Workshop program. Workshop model provides students with a supportive environment that involves them in authentic reading experiences that focus on the strengths and needs of each individual student. Reader's Workshop helps children develop strong reading skills through the use of mini-lessons, shared reading, interactive read-alouds, conferencing individually as well as small group strategy work. Workshop ends with a time of reflection and sharing which allows students to take responsibility for their own learning. In addition, students reading levels are assessed three times a year with a reading record.
