Second Grade Music

We Gather Here Together

We gather here together with joyful heart and mind

We raise our voices ever, our distant souls to bind

To remember in this moment of friendship love and joy

That music made together may one day heal mankind

To remember in this moment of friendship love and joy

That music made together may one day heal mankind

This Land Is Your Land

By Woody Guthrie

Refrain Chorus:

This land is your land, this land is my land,

From California, to the New York Island

From the redwood forest, to the Gulf Stream waters

This land was made for you and me

1. As I was walking that ribbon highway,

I saw above me an endless skyway

I saw below me a golden valley,

This land was made for you and me

Refrain Chorus

2. I roamed and rambled I followed my footsteps,

To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts

And all around me a voice was singing

This land was made for you and me

Refrain Chorus

3. The sun was shining as I was strolling,

Wheat fields waving, dust clouds rolling

A voice was singing, the fog was lifting

This land was made for you and me

Refrain Chorus

I've Been Working on the Railroad - American Folk Song

I've been working on the railroad

All the live-long day.

I've been working on the railroad

Just to pass the time away.

Don't you hear the whistle blowing,

Rise up so early in the morn;

Don't you hear the captain shouting,

"Dinah, blow your horn!"

Dinah, won't you blow, Dinah, won't you blow,

Dinah, won't you blow your horn?

Dinah, won't you blow, Dinah, won't you blow,

Dinah, won't you blow your horn?

Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah

Someone's in the kitchen I know

Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah

Strummin' on the old banjo!

Singin' fee, fie, fiddly-i-o, Fee, fie, fiddly-i-o-o-o-o

Fee, fie, fiddly-i-o, Strummin' on the old banjo.

Home On The Range

This version includes all the lyrics. Enjoy!!

Home on the Range

1.Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam

Where the deer and the antelope play

Where seldom is heard a discouraging word

And the skies are not cloudy all day

Refrain:

Home, home on the range

Where the deer and the antelope play

Where seldom is heard a discouraging word

And the skies are not cloudy all day

2. How often at night when the heavens are bright

With the light of the glittering stars

Have I stood there amazed and asked as I gazed

If their glory exceeds that of ours

Refrain:

Home, home on the range………..

3. Then give me a land where the bright diamond sand

Flows leisurely down to the stream

Where the graceful white swan goes gliding along

Like a maid in a heavenly dream

Refrain:

Home, home on the range…………..

4. Where the air is so pure, and the zephyrs so free

The breezes so balmy and light

That I would not exchange my home on the range

For all of the cities so bright

Refrain:

Home, home on the range

Where the deer and the antelope play

Where seldom is heard a discouraging word

And the skies are not cloudy all day

Great Big House In New Orleans

Great big house in New Orleans, forty stories high

Every room that I been in, filled with pumpkin pie

Went down to the old mill stream, fetch a pail of water

Put one arm around my wife and the other round my daughter

Fare thee well my darling girl, fare thee well my daughter

Fare thee well my darling girl with the golden slippers on her
