Troop 702 generally has at least one trip each month – camping, hiking, biking, skiing, etc. In the summer, we organize two different summer camps for the Scouts – and the adults.
We meet each week during the school year and work year-round on advancing through the Scouting ranks, earning merit badges, participating in community service projects, and having fun. It is okay if you are not able to make every meeting. If you can't make a meeting you might miss out on a skill and a fun game or two. But there will be opportunities during meetings or other events
Troop 702 is proud to accept boys and girls from Grade 6 and up.
Some Troop Favorite trips include:
White Mountain Hut Trips, including Lonesome Lake, Carter Notch, and Zealand Falls. We are on a three-year rotation with each of these huts; in 2024 we went to Zealand Falls. The hut trip takes place during the Winter and it is usually many Scout’s first winter trip. Each hike requires a strong level of endurance and courage. This year, we will be going to Lonesome Lake so pack your bags!
Hidden Valley Summer Camp is the most exciting trip of the year for most Scouts. We will travel up to Gilmanton, NH for a week-long stay at Griswold Reservation. Here, Scouts will advance in their rank and earn merit badges, along with community service projects. But, if that doesn’t sound like fun for you, then there are many fun Afternoon activities and games that we do as a Troop that include Ultimate Frisbee, Water Basketball, Watermelon Scramble, Assault Boats, and many more.
Turkey Jam is also one of the most exciting trips of the year. Before Thanksgiving, the Troop goes to the Reading Town Forest for a Turkey Dinner. Scouts must assist Cub Scouts with various activities such as a monkey bridge, axe-throwing, and geocaching. After participating in those activities, the Scouts cook the Turkey dinner and gather around the bonfire for a turkey dinner and skits. Then, scouts have fun hanging out and playing games before tucking into their sleeping bags!
