Program Overview

The staff at child care centers play a vital role in shaping the future of our children. In the Trinity Child Care Program, high school students learn how to meet the needs of children while providing a safe learning environment that fosters all areas of development.

Students in the program are prepared for careers in the education or in the child care industry. Students enrolled in the Program at Trinity have the opportunity to work with children from the community three days a week through the Trinity Preschool Program. They plan and prepare age-appropriate lessons as well as maintaining a safe learning environment for the children.

Certifications Students Work Towards:

  • Child Development Associate Ready Certificate

  • Infant and Child CPR Certification- American Red Cross

  • OSHA Certification

  • Pediatric First Aid- American Academy of Pediatrics

  • Pennsylvania Skills Certificate via NOCTI Exam

Course Requirements for Students:

  • Child Development (year long)

  • Child Development 2 (year long)

  • Child Development 3 (year long)

  • Advanced Child Development (year long)

  • Culinary Arts (one semester)

  • Culinary Arts II (one semester)

  • Just the FACS (one semester)

  • Personal and Social Management (year long)

  • Child Observation Project and Internship 1-4 (each a year long)

  • Nanny

With Associate Degree:

  • Daycare Director

  • Preschool Teacher

  • Teacher's Assistant

With Bacholor's Degree:

  • Elementry School Teacher

  • Preschool Director

  • Special Education Teacher

Child Care Program Details

Students have the opportunity to become a completer of the program and walk out of THS with real experience working with children as well as certifications they can take with them to the workforce. Students will be provide hands on working opportunities with preschoolers here at THS though the Preschool Program offered to families from the community. Students will also complete Observation & Project Hours .
