Coming Soon
The 7th and 8th grade will be going to a production of The Hobbit by the Racine Theater Guild on Monday, April 20th. We will leave after eating an earlier lunch. We will eat at 11 AM in our classroom (bring their normal lunch), board the bus around 11:20, and return to school around 2:30.
Memory Treasure: "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" (stanzas 5 and 7)
This eight stanza hymn is maybe the most identifiable Easter hymn in the Christian Church. It is packed with such powerful declarations of what Jesus' bodily resurrection from the dead assures to his followers. It also reminds us what he continues to do as our Prophet, Priest, and King. As our Prophet, he continues to use Word and Sacrament to comfort us through life's tribulations (stanza 5) and to bring us safely home the mansion he is preparing (stanza 7).
5) He lives to silence all my fears;
He lives to wipe away my tears.
He lives to calm my troubled heart;
He lives all blessings to impart.
7) He lives and grants me daily breath;
He lives and I shall conquer death.
He lives my mansion to prepare;
He lives to bring me safely there.
Class Schedule
Monday: No Class
Tuesday: Bible Study: We begin a new study, one that will focus on some of the minor prophets of the Old Testament. The first is the book of Joel.
Joel brings a message of judgment against Israel for turning from the one true God. But he also brings this message from the Lord of heaven and earth, "Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity."
Wednesday: Catechism with Pastor Vogel
Thursday: Bible Study: Part 2 of the book of Joel.
Friday: Chapel
Worship with your family and fellow believers: Sunday morning 8 and 10:30 A.M. Wednesday evening services resume (6:30 P.M.)
God invites us to enjoy being in his presence and to worship him [to see his face] and be encouraged by his promises and by our family of believers.
Literature: "What if We Are Alone?" is a poem study on Tuesday where we will analyze form in poetry.
Then, Wednesday and Thursday, we will evaluate elements in visual media that contribute to the intended purpose of the media. A video entitled "Seven Minutes of Terror" was produced to chronicle the 2012 attempt to land a rover on the planet of Mars. How is the necessary information relayed in a way that matches the suspense of the title?
Friday will be independent reading time.
