Advanced Level Teaching Progressions
This resource comes from Teach Consent and focuses on teaching kids skills of consent and how to say no respectfully at ages 11-16. It contains videos and a discussion guide to help spark conversations. While this resource is for kids who fall under a bit older age range, it can be used for younger children as they progress and if the educator sees fit. If not used at a young age, it is a great resource to use as your child begins to grow older.
This resource comes from FoSE which created National Sex Education Standards to construct a national dialogue about sex education and promote the quality of sex education that is offered in schools. With a number of endorsing organizations and testimonials FoSE aims to help individuals navigate sexual development and grow into sexually healthy adults from a young age. National Sex Education Standards offers core content to be taught to a wide range of ages, from kindergarten to twelfth grade. They also offer a dense glossary for any terms that need clarification or anything you might be curious about. This is a great resource to use throughout your child’s life until they reach the age to be on their own. It also provides great starting points for educators to teach young students.
This resource comes from ETR who takes the best practices of sex education from the book, Get Real: Comprehensive Sex Education That Works, 2nd Edition, and summarizes them to make them easier to access. Targeting educators it is a dense read but helpful for understanding the impacts of teaching consent and basics of sex education from a young age. As this resource comes straight from a book, progressing to using the actual book itself would be a great strategy for anyone looking to increase the intensity of their teaching.
