Traditionally, Masque Laureate is held twice a year, currently at Spring and Fall Crown Tourney. Group performances are welcome, as are solo performances. Material need not be original, but the original pieces are permitted by solo artists if accompanied by an instrument. A number of performance options are possible. The victor bears the Belled-Baldric til next the competition finds a new and worthy artisan. Details are available here.

Join this informal gathering of bards (and fans of bardic performance) as the evening festivities begin after feast and court. Participants take turns offering short performances of songs, poems and other bardic arts, so that everyone who wants to perform gets a chance to take part.

Bottlecap Pincushions: These little things are great for your travel sewing kit, an largess, and for sewing at home. I have a bottlecap pincushion for needles, pins, and safety pins in my travel sewing kit. I have another for veil pins in my head covering box. All you need to know how to do is sew &/ or embroidery. You can make them as simple or as fancy as you like. All materials are provided (Felt, fiber fill, embroidery floss). Needles and scissors will be available, but you are welcome to bring your own. All ages welcome, younger children should be accompanied by an adult. Donation: $1. No limit.

Come learn about the magical machines created by Heron of Alexandria, which used advanced scientific principles to astound 1st Century Greeks. We will discuss many different types including the world’s first steam engine, a vending machine for Holy Water, and a magic fountain. A handout will be provided and working models of some machines will be demonstrated.

Medieval Trapezoidal Shoulder Bag
In this class you will hand sew a bag based on illuminations in the Maciejowski (or Margan) Bible from the 13th century. Pre-cut canvas, and sewing tools/ threads will be provided. Your bag will have an inner liner to hide the seams. I don’t add tassels to my bags but I will have yarn available if you choose to make them. These bags are very durable and comfortably fit many items. Dimensions: bottom base is 13”, top opening is 8”, and height is 8”. Class size limit: 6 students. Fabric cost: $3.

Style of two sword rattan fighting.
This fighting style was pioneered and used for many years to good effect by Sir Erin Breck Gordon, a Duke of Trimaris. Sir Aaron used two short swords, but the style can be used with one short and one long sword. Students should bring two swords. Armor is optional, but hand protection is highly recommended.

The Art-Sci Expo is an initiative under the Kingdom Art-Sci Office to promote living, hands-on art/research and increase how-to education on an artistic and scholastic level. We promote and help develop teachers of all levels through the encouragement and partnered development visual communication structured teaching boards, open display feedback, and real hands on teacher/student mentoring.
From novice to master, we are here to partner in broadening historical education in all it's forms within and beyond our fair kingdom of Trimaris.
