March 2, 2023 - High School Math Collaborative PD

This session will focus on building collaborative teams to work through the challenges of teaching math in today’s high school setting. We will build on the work from previous years, focusing on structuring math instruction that is rich in modeling and reasoning. New and veteran teachers alike are welcome to join in this work that is focused on creating classroom environments where all young people can thrive. Please join us for any or all sessions! Graduate credit will be available for participants who attend any three sessions.

March 3, 2023 Tiered Vocabulary Instruction for ALL Secondary Teachers

Students should be actively engaged in instruction that includes learning words before reading, repetition and multiple exposures, learning in rich contexts, incidental learning, and use of computer technology. Isabel Beck’s Tiered Vocabulary will provide a research-based framework and practical strategies for vocabulary development for use in middle school through high school. Explicit instruction of vocabulary will be emphasized.

March 5, 2024 - PBIS Tier 3 Train the Trainer Training

Tier 3 practices stem from strong foundations in Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports. With both tiers in place, schools are free to organize individualized teams to support students with more intense needs. In addition to these practices, the key practices involved in Tier 3 supports are: Function-based Assessments, Wraparound services, Person Centered Planning, and the culture and context of each school. This 3-day Tier 3 training will complete the continuum of support for behavior for PBIS teams.

March 7, 2023 - Middle School Math 

This session will engage math teachers in meaningful, useful activities and conversation resulting in instruction that will empower young mathematicians. Teachers will have opportunities to share resources and request support for both specific courses and broader math instruction. The learning and reflecting will guide teachers to build and facilitate a math classroom that fosters flexibility, collaboration, problem solving, reasoning, accuracy and understanding. Additional sessions will be offered Tuesday, August 30, 2022 and Thursday, January 26, 2023. Please join us for any or all sessions. Graduate credit will be available for participants who attend all three sessions.

March 13, 2024-  Intervention Specialists and Related Services Personnel Network Meeting

Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 Noon

Network meetings will build the capacity of intervention specialists and other related services educators who are tasked with developing programs for students needing intense individualized academic and behavioral support by providing comprehensive, integrated professional development.

March 13, 2024 - The Needs of Gifted Students 

This half-day in-person professional development is focused on understanding the needs of gifted students in order to provide better support and instruction.  In this session participants will learn about the social-emotional needs and characteristics of gifted students and ideas to implement effective instruction.
