Bullying

The board of education prohibits bullying in any form, including electronic means, on or while using school property, in a school vehicle or at a school-sponsored activity or event. Students, parents, patrons, or staff members who have bullied others in violation of district policy may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including suspension and expulsion. If appropriate, students, patrons, parents, and staff members who violate the bullying prohibition shall be reported to local law enforcement. Bullying is unfair and one-sided. It happens when someone keeps hurting, frightening, threatening, or leaving someone out on purpose.

To recognize bullying, ask these questions:

  • Is it fair?

  • Is it one-sided?

  • Is someone using power in a hurtful way?

  • How does it feel?
