Our philosophy at Treetops is to prepare a secure foundation for life-long learners. We uphold the belief that each child is unique and by providing an enabling environment, positive relationships and a creative curriculum children have the opportunity to flourish.
"Learning through play, the outdoor way" is Treetop's Preschool tagline and motto. We heavily believe that children should enjoy coming to school and learn through everyday experiences. At Treetops, we have continually developed our outdoor areas so that children can learn whilst being active. The children are able to learn musical elements in our beautiful 'musical woods', learn about how things grow in our large vegetable gardens, become immersed in sensory play in our sand pits and water trays, improve gross motor skills with our climbing and playground equipment and improve their writing with our outdoor easels, flower chalk boards and 'creativity playhouse'.
‘Studies have shown that spending time in natural environments helps children with recall and memory, problem solving and creativity. In addition, children who spend more time outside are physically healthier now and as adults.’
David Suzuki 2004
One of our main aims is to create a loving, caring and fun environment so that children enjoy coming to school! We have a variety of different environments so that children can learn both indoor and outside and also have lots and lots of fun! Whilst in the classroom they have opportunities to role play, bake and create their own pieces of art as well as having a good balance of literacy and math centers. Outdoors, they learn to take risks and explore in carefully constructed environments so that they can develop self confidence and independence. Our kind and caring staff always have a smile on their faces and they fully engage with each and every child allowing them to feel safe, secure and important.
We strongly believe that students who love coming to school will develop into confident children who will thrive when they take the next step and attend Primary school.
At Treetops, we understand that sending your children to the right school is a big decision! We pride ourselves on being open, friendly and always available, whether that be by email, WhatsApp or phone call. Parents are invited into school to watch Christmas shows, sport days and graduation ceremonies. We also have introduced parent 'stay and play' days where your children can show off their amazing work and favorite areas of the school along with parent workshops; where parents with different skills and professions are invited in to teach the students.
In Reception, parents are invited in twice each year to discuss their child's progress but we are available whenever you need to talk to us!
Treetops Preschool uses Online Learning Journals as another form of communication where weekly photos are put up so that parents can stay connected to their child's learning.
We want students and parents to be impressed each and every time they come onto campus. Since opening the school in 2019 we have dramatically improved our learning environments and facilities. We firmly believe in reinvesting your money so that your children are the ones to benefit! We have some really exciting future plans for our Treetops Students!
Some of the major improvements so far have been:
Building a new reception classroom that is spacious and light.
Creating a musical woods and balance beam section in the forest
Building a climbing wall, climbing station and construction area in the playground
Changing our major energy source to solar
Adding role play areas both indoors and outdoors
Imported high quality resources from the UK
Continually painting the classrooms and floors to improve aesthetics
We employ 95% of our teaching assistants from within 5km of the school, to support our local community.
We work with our closest government Primary school, with Suzie acting as a director to the 'Mbabzi School Project' charity.
We've created partnerships with Dzleka Refugee Camp where Treetops have gifted education resources, staff training and matresses.
We've initiated project 'Clean Up Mbabzi' where the community make eco-bricks out of rubbish in the area. We pay for cement and sand to build anything they like with the 'eco bricks' they make. So far we have collected over 50kg of rubbish !
