I have experience with school based therapy as well as extensive experience working with youth in residential settings who are navigating the court system. I have also held positions working as an inpatient mental health clinician, crisis hotline counselor, as well as community based services. In these roles I've worked with the LGBTQ+ population, survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence and clients with an elevated risk of suicidality.
I have a background in DBT, CBT, mindfulness and trauma-informed care. I want to assist clients to develop skills like emotional regulation, cognitive refaming, and mindfulness, while ensuring that their experiences are handled with sensitivity to trauma. As a social worker, I channel the client's voice to ensure that they feel empowered when addressing their personal experiences, concerns, needs and plans. When working with clients I utilize a strengths-based approach. It focuses on identifying and utilizing a client's inherent strengths, resources and resilience to address their challenges. This approach encourages clients to take ownership of their progress and helps build their confidence.
