greg fell
Greg Fell is the Director of Public Health in Sheffield. He graduated from Nottingham University with a degree in biochemistry and physiology in 1993. He has worked as a social researcher in a maternity unit; a number of roles in health promotion and public health before joining the public health training scheme. Greg worked as a consultant in public health in Bradford in the PCT then Bradford council. Since Feb 2016 he has worked for Sheffield City Council as the Director of Public Health for the city. Greg was also appointed to the role of President to the Association of Directors of Public Health (ADPH) in October 2023.
Professor Madelynne Arden
Madelynne (Maddy) Arden is Professor of Health Psychology and Director of the Centre for Behavioural Science and Applied Psychology (CeBSAP) at Sheffield Hallam University. She is a Chartered Psychologist, a Registered Health Psychologist (HCPC) and Fellow of the Academy of Social Science. She is also chair elect of the Behavioural Science and Public Health Network (BSPHN). She is a leading expert in the development and evaluation of interventions to change behaviour and to promote maintenance of behaviours and she has worked across a range of domains including active travel, COVID prevention behaviours, and adherence to medication. Her research has received over £4 million in funding from sources including NIHR, Public Health Wales, Department for Education, Local Government Association, and the Wellcome Trust, and she has more than 55 peer reviewed publications.
rachel treharne
Rachael is an experienced advocate for climate action with a background in climate science. She is now supporting the movement towards a more sustainable, equitable food system in Sheffield as the Partnership Coordinator for ShefFood; a cross-sector partnership of organisations committed to working together to transform the city's food system.
SAM WAKELING
Sam lives in Sheffield and works for Living Streets, the UK's pedestrian organisation. He is accredited in the Healthy Streets framework (used by Transport for London and growing numbers of local authorities). He works with local and national authorities on understanding the needs of the people who use streets and how to design streets for people, and to support people's health and wellbeing. He loves streets which are inclusive, accessible and simply feel good.
DR NICOLA RIVERS
Nicky has spent 16 years at the Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust following her early career in zoology research and consultancy. She mainly works on developing landscape projects and advocating for nature’s protection and recovery through the planning system, policy work and campaigns. She works with different partners such as local authorities and government agencies but also with communities. She leads the Trust’s work on Taking Action for Nature to help address the nature and climate crises. She likes to help people to understand specialist areas such as the planning system and the links between nature and climate change to enable them to take action themselves.
steve ellard
Steve is Director of Assets & Sustainability at Yorkshire Housing and Chairs South Yorkshire Housing Partnership’s ‘Roadmap to Net Zero Carbon’ workstream, made up of key housing associations and local authorities working in partnership to decarbonise homes across South Yorkshire. Steve won the NHF & 24 Housing Young Leader of the Year Award in 2016 and is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

Alison is a Director and co-founder of Natural Capital Solutions, a consultancy specialising in biodiversity and ecosystem services assessment. She is an ecologist with over 20 years of experience in academia and consultancy. Alison has advised and managed projects for clients spanning planning and development, health, conservation, agriculture, and land management sectors.
roz davies
Roz currently leads one of the largest social enterprises in South Yorkshire. The Green Estate which was recently one of only 15 businesses across the country to be awarded the Kings Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development has a mission to grow engaging adaptive and resilient urban places. Roz has a specific interest in preparing businesses, communities and places for an uncertain and challenging transition in relation to the complex global climate, social and economic crisis we are facing. She believes that South Yorkshire has all the right ingredients to lead the way in this area to the benefit of people and the planet. In addition to 30 years of working in cross-sector economic, social and environmental development roles, She is a member of the Sheffield City Goals taskforce, Sheffield Social Enterprise Place Board and South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority’s Business Advisory Board.. In addition She is the Co-Chair of the Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission Adaptation and Resilience Panel and works one day a week in the NHS.
ALEX FRASER
I am a first generation organic arable farmer, and a medical doctor. We grow cereals for the milling market, with the aim of improving our soil health whilst growing nutritious food for local people.
