Anthony "Mr. J" Joseph is currently director of bands at Ellender Memorial High School in Houma, LA. Originally from Franklin, Louisiana, Mr. J attended Franklin High School. He attended Nicholls State University for his undergraduate training where he studied with Gregory Torres,, Eric Gueniot, Dr. Stuart Folse, Dr. Kenneth Klaus and the late Jon Lindsey. He completed his Masters of Education in Education Technology Leadership from Nicholls State University in 2015.
Mr. J has been at Ellender since July of 2005. During that time, the band program has seen many successful years both on the marching field and the concert stage. The band consistently has received high ratings for all performances and assessments during Mr. Joseph's tenure. In addition, Mr. J has expanded the program, including introducing the jazz band. The band has also been crowned "Grand Champion" band for Mardi Gras on two separate occasions.
Mr. J's professional affiliations include: The National Association of Music Educators, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Louisiana Music Educators Association, Terrebonne Parish Band Directors Association and the District VII Band Directors Association. Mr. J has held leadership positions in the Terrebonne Parish Band Directors Association where he was a former Vice President and with the District VII Band Directors Association where he served as President and First Vice President.
In his spare time, Mr. J enjoys writing music, watching the New Orleans Saints, and spending time with his wife and sister.
Adam Foret, B.M.E.
Director of Choral Activities/Asst. Director of Bands
Originally from Raceland, Mr. Foret is currently the director of choral activities and in addition serves as the assistant band director. Mr. Foret began his tenure at Ellender Memorial High School in 2016 as choir director. During this time, he has witnessed growth in the choral program at Ellender while taking over the choral programs at Oaklawn Middle School and Village East Elementary School. In 2019, Mr. Foret joined the band program as assistant band director and co-directs the "Patriot Brigade" and also serves as director of the concert band and a performer in the Jazz Band.
Mr. Foret received his musical training at Nicholls State University where he studied with Dr. Kenneth Klaus, Eric Gueniot, Gregory Torres and the late Dr. Cristina Mendoza. Mr. Foret is extremely talented on many different instruments including, trumpet, piano and bass guitar.
Mr. Foret's professional affiliations include. National Association of Music Educators, Louisiana Music Educators Association, District VII Choir Director Association and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
In his spare time, Mr. Foret has a successful piano tuning business and enjoys spending time with his wife and his children.
