Ensembles

The "Patriot Brigade"

The "Patriot Brigade" is the name for the marching band. The band performs at all home and some away football games. In addition, the Brigade competes in marching contests in the state of Louisiana and Mississippi. All members of the band program perform in the Brigade. Students are expected to participate in our two week summer  and camp. In addition, the band rehearses 2 days a week after school and on one Saturday a month. The Brigade also marches in select Mardi Gras parades. The Brigade is the largest group on campus. 

Symphonic Band

The Symphonic band is the premier spring ensemble on campus. Participation in this ensemble requires audition. This ensemble participates in several spring band assessments. The goal of this group is to strive to learn and perform higher levels of music. 

Concert Band

The Concert Band is our second spring performing ensemble. Participation in this ensemble requires audition. In addition, some secondary instrument opportunities may be available. This ensemble participates in several spring band assessments. The goal for this group is to strive for excellence while performing appropriate level literature. 

Jazz Band

The Jazz Band is also a premier performing ensemble on campus. Membership in this ensemble is directors permission. The Jazz Band performs in many places around Houma for many different events. 

Auxiliary

The Ellender Auxiliary is an extremely important extension of the band program. This group, through dancing and colorful silks helps tell the story of our fall competition show. In addition, this group learns routines to perform in select placecs such as pep rallies. Membership in this group is b audition each spring. 

Percussion

The Ellender percussion section provides excitement and tempo for all ensembles. Membershi is done by audition each spring. The percussion provides cadences, stands music and creates excitement for all events.
