Lisa Park's Homework Philosophy:

In the 2017-2018 school year, our administration instituted a no homework policy. Students no longer have required daily homework. This should alleviate some of the strain that can be caused by excessive homework each school night. However, teachers will post Ready Work, which are activities students can complete to prepare, or be ready, for the next day's lessons. It is up to the parent or guardian to decide if their student will benefit from completing the Ready Work.

There is an important difference between homework and studying or reviewing. Each day, students should review or study the materials from their classes. On days where the student does not have materials that need to be reviewed, time can be spent writing a journal/diary entry, a story, a song, or a poem, practicing math facts, completing an art project, listening to music, practicing handwriting, or reading for fun. Students can read alone if they are able to, or they can read with an adult or older friend or family member to help develop their reading skills. Research shows that reading only 20 minutes a day can help students become better readers.
