Anime club is an after school activity which aims to bring the Jones student body together and broaden their understanding of the inherently deep culture of Japan. To accomplish this, Anime Club looks to expand student horizons by exploring various aspects such as anime, manga, art, and occasionally, learning how to make food. While the culture may be vast, exploring the uncharted terrain becomes manageable through the mission's goal to reinforce the glue of diversity, the love for knowledge, and the enjoyment of student engagement. With these three efforts and a safe space, the opportunity for growth is infinite!

The Woodberry Park Chess Club @ Jones was started in 2011 when it was invited by Dr. Durant to bring its chess program into a TPS. In 2012 the Woodberry Park Chess Club was given space in Jones Leadership Academy. The chess program discovered that children in the inner city did not have a chess program like other schools in the Toledo area.
The Woodberry Park Chess Club challenged the non conventional wisdom that implied that most inner city children would not be able to learn the game of chess. The Woodberry Park Chess Club not only proved this assumption incorrect, but has competed and won at both the local, the Ohio State All Girls Championship and at the United States Scholastic National High School level.
