Year Two Weekly Update

Monday 4th June - Friday 7th June

Review (This week)

English: We have written diary entries in role as one of the characters from Man on the Moon.

Maths : We have introduced the new unit on time.

Science: We have looked at the Moon.

Preview (Next week)

English: We will begin writing instructions for Bob's picnic lunch.

Maths : We will continue telling the time to 5 minutes and finding and comparing durations of time.

Science: We will look at Moon phases in more detail.

This week, we have enjoyed starting our new unit on telling the time. We have looked at o'clock, 00:00, 00:15, 00:30 and 00:45. We loved playing 'What's the time, Mr Wolf?'.

International day

We are very much enjoying our International Day preparations! Our assigned country this year is Solvakia: your child may wear a Slovakian outfit or a costume from their home country on Wednesday.

For our performance, we are demonstrating a Slovakian circle game. Here are the lyrics and video so you can practice at home:

Homework :

English and Maths - You are to write a diary entry for your day including times, e.g. At 7:00 I woke up and ate breakfast.

Spellings - spelling list 5 - j spelling pattern

Notices:

  • Wednesday, 12th June is International Day
  • On Friday, 14th June, children are allowed to wear a football shirt for Soccer Aid
  • Summer School is available from 1st - 19th July. Please speak to the office for more information and to sign up
  • Please send your child into school with their hats, water bottles and folders
  • Please be reminded about the importance of children wearing safe and appropriate footwear to school. It states in the parent handbook that 'open-toed sandals, flip flops or crocs are not allowed'

PE is on Monday and Thursday (they may wear their kit all day).

Swimming is on Tuesday (please label their kit, goggles and cap with their name).
